Hotel is great as usual, however check-in was a shambles and room didn’t have all amenities- not good enough given price

Lovely stylish room, friendly staff. No restaurant or bar inside the hotel, they are around the corner.
We had trouble finding the hotel due to major roadwork and this should be mentioned in the welcome message. We phoned the hotel twice for direction while driving around in circles and each time got a vague response. This was not how we wanted to begin our stay. A moment of good customer service to alert guests before they arrive would have been valuable.
