This was our first stay at a ‘chateau’ and it was amazing. The historical mansion filled with antiques was magnificent. The grounds were expansive and were well kept. Hospitality by the family was heartwarming. The rooms were well appointed , spacious and very comfortable.
Please know, to get around, one does need a car.
Our feeling is that we will be visiting more chateaus in the future.

Le Château de la Villedubois is a very special place! It is not a hotel… but really, it’s so much more. The owners are lovely, friendly and very helpful. They are custodians of a rich history and have renovated their family home with integrity and wonderful taste!
You will need your car to get around. It is very private and the rooms are truly spacious and beautifully decorated.
The breakfast offered was perfect. There are quite a few very good restaurants within a 10 mns drive on the outskirts of Rennes.
My wife, our 16 months old daughter and I, had a truly great experience. It was like stepping back in time and it allowed us to breath for a couple of days. I will recommend Le Chateau de la Villedubois to any friend on a road trip to Western France or Brittany specifically.
