Monastero San Lodovico - Orvieto

Beautiful facility grounds and inside. Simple breakfast - fruit , cereal, pastries.

Only one roll of toilet paper there (they don't clean daily or have front desk other than for 5 hours a day so getting more not simple). The morning of check-out starting at 7 am the cleaning staff tried 3 separate times to enter my room without knocking while I was still in the room while the door was locked. It kept startling me, and check-out wasn't until 10 am. Again, no front desk staff so they did not know if I had already departed, but they need a different system other than attempting to enter hourly until you've left the room. Perhaps a "do not disturb/clean my room" sign in all rooms to put on the door handle to communicate?

Great location and wonderful historic building

The rooms were a bit simple and we would have liked a double bed but that was not possible.

The last 2 nuns left July 2026, leaving behind a spacious, sanctity for others to appreciate. The room was very simple yet offered all we needed. A varied breakfast while seeing ancient frescos offered a good start to our day. The welcoming hostesses were very helpful patiently researching ongoing travel questions.

Hope this Monestaro will succeed as a place to stay for travellers and seminars - sad to learn the last nuns recently left. Internet is difficult due to thick walls.
