This stay meant far more to me than simply having a beautiful place to vacation—it felt like reconnecting with a part of Florida’s soul.
From the moment we arrived, it was clear this wasn’t just another vacation rental. Reading the manual and learning about the family’s history gave the property a depth and authenticity you simply can’t recreate. It’s a living reminder of the hardworking Florida families who helped shape this state long before subdivisions and high-rises became the norm.
The home beautifully preserves the spirit of Old Florida. The towering palms, native landscape, peaceful surroundings, and timeless charm made me appreciate a Florida that is becoming increasingly rare. As someone whose family has called Florida home for seven generations, I found myself reflecting on the people, traditions, and way of life that made this state so special. Places like this are becoming harder to find, and I am incredibly grateful the owners have chosen to preserve and share this piece of Florida history.
Beyond its historical significance, the home itself was clean, beautifully maintained, and exceptionally comfortable. Every room was thoughtfully furnished, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the beds were wonderfully comfortable. It struck the perfect balance between honoring the real Florida and providing modern convenience.
The location was equally wonderful—peaceful and relaxing while still close to everything we wanted to explore. Whether enjoying the views, spending time in the yard, or venturing into the nearby communities, we felt immersed in the authentic character of Florida rather than simply passing through another tourist destination.
Communication from the hosts was outstanding. Check-in was seamless, instructions were clear, and it was obvious they genuinely care about both the home and the guests who stay there.
Even the A/C couldn’t handle a Florida July! 😂 Thankfully, the owner responded immediately and had it fixed so quickly that we didn’t have to bear the heat too much.
Mr. Constantine, Thank you for preserving such an important piece of Florida’s heritage. I left with a deep sense of gratitude. Staying here wasn’t just a vacation—it felt like stepping back into the Florida I grew up in. We will cherish the memories we made here and would enthusiastically recommend this home to anyone looking for an authentic Old Florida experience. I left planning out dates thinking, “when can we come back?” 😁

The home is conveniently located, within minutes of beaches, shopping, and food. You can sit inside and look out the window for dolphins to swim by in the river.
In addition to the location, the house has been completely redone on the inside and is very spacious! The beds are comfortable and the water is hot. The owners checked in a couple of times prior to our arrival to make sure everything was going as planned, to provide access information and let me know if they were available if I needed anything during my stay.
For anyone looking to book this property, bring water shoes if you anticipate going into the river and bring mosquito repellent. It’s a very natural area and with the Florida humidity, you just have to plan accordingly. As for the river, the seawall is covered in barnacles/shells and can leave you with nasty cuts if you aren’t careful. Whatever you do, do not jump off the seawall into that river! Ease into it or use the steps with extreme caution, that would be the safest way to avoid hitting rocks and shells. It is beautiful for sightseeing, having a cup of coffee early in the morning and hoping to see dolphins swim by.
I highly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay around around the Tampa Bay Area.

This was my second time at this Palmetto home and both times I left feeling relaxed, centered and happy. The owner and his family are incredibly responsive and dedicated to ensuring you love the home as much as they do..check out the history in the check in book...look for birds, ducks, stingrays, dolphins, and jumping fish all while sipping on your drink of choice by the river! This is a perfect place for a couple wanting to get away and a good sized family reunion!!

We loved being in this quiet secluded area but within two miles of great restaurants and less than 15 miles from the ocean!
A 1933 farm house renovated on the Manatee river, a joy to watch the lazy river, sunset and sunrise!
It is budget friendly and clean as could be! Yes I definitely would stay again.
