The atmosphere was very cute! It was like being transported into an old fashioned hotel from a movie, in the best way. It was very clean and for being an old building, the air conditioner was WORKING.
There were only a few minor things that we didn't like, the seat of the toilet was wobbly and the curtain hanging from the window was difficult to close. The ceilings were very high so that likely was just a situational flaw.

Hotel is nostalgic with a lot of southern flair and reminds you of the past. Big change from the chain hotels. It is also very close to a local restaurant called Steamboat Warehouse where they serve great cajun dishes. Their bar and restaurant were closed when we stayed, it is open on weekends. The pool was small but perfect, with ample seating and a good place to have a drink and wind down.
We loved staying here. It is still being updated and a few things are getting gussied up as the owner keeps putting in money and time to make it even better. You can tell this is a project of love. Don't expect perfection, but the rooms are spotless and you just feel at home.

The history of the building is intertwined with the storied history of Washington. The well preserved interior and exterior tell a story of the many people who have lived and visited there. Despite the genuine antiquity the rooms are furnished with comfortable furniture and modern conveniences.
Some exterior preservation like shutters need attention. Noise from automobile traffic is occasionally loud but can’t be helped due to the authentic location.
