- The apartment itself is lovely, on the first floor of an old house with beautiful turn of the century flooring, high ceilings and large rooms. - The apartment was spotlessly clean and light, tastefully decorated and had (almost) everything we needed. The host personally showed us around. - There is a washing machine for those who stay a few nights. - There are air conditioning units in the bedroom and lounge room and a very large TV. - Comfortable bed. - The location is good, 10 mins walk to the old town. There’s a supermarket (Esselunga) and a good gelateria/bar down the road. - Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and a few starter coffee capsules were included. - Parking is easy on the street outside.

- Not a friendly welcome and we did not leave happy. We’d been pestered by the host a little bit about the time we would arrive during the day of arrival. It was difficult to give a definite time as we were driving from another city and were at the whims of roadworks and traffic. The host was irritated when we arrived as we’d taken a few minutes to find the house. We had not been sent any details other than the address beforehand and there was a sign on the building for another apartment but not Anita. When we arrived, the first thing the host asked for, after our documents, was for a deposit of €150. We’ve never been asked for a deposit when booking an apartment, especially after having paid the full amount for the accommodation up front months before. And they have our passport details if anything goes wrong. We offered to pay cash but it would have been complicated to get a refund and the host refused to give us a receipt. She asked for the deposit via PayPal and as a “friend”, not a business. Because it was an international transaction (we do not live in the eurozone) I had to pay €8 in extra fees for the transaction. I asked for the host to reimburse me the extra fees but she argued with me that there were any transaction fees and would not. I did however get my €150 reimbursed 48 hours after we left. When I looked at my Booking reservation, it does mention a damage deposit but it is well buried in the text. It was all very unpleasant. - The apartment would not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems as there is a steep flight of stairs up to it and no lift. - Unfortunately, the apartment overlooks a not so pretty street which is fairly noisy because of the traffic. The balcony faces this street which is a shame. - Small things which could be improved: there is no light over the mirror in the bathroom (so it is a bit dark for doing makeup), neither are there hooks for hanging up towels.
