First things first: Matt has been a marvelous host despite the fact that he was in a different time zone. He was always available, incredibly quick to respond and always solution-oriented. We did not have any problems during our stay, but I did have a few questions, and everything was answered in a timely manner. The images you see are the correct representation of what you will get, except the outside of the house. Because the images do not do justice to the view you will be getting. My wife and I work remotely in the evenings, and I have a daily meeting at 19h15 local time... That was the time the sun would start its descent to disappear behind the far away towards the end of my meeting. It was magical. The house has everything you need. The beds are very comfortable, the bedrooms have AC units, we did not use ours except for a couple of nights, but our daughter used hers every night. They perform really well. There are also fans. The kitchen is well equipped, I stay in "entire home"s all the time, and it is always a guessing game to see which kitchen would be good (we did cook a couple of dinners and almost daily breakfast), this one was decent. Maybe it is time to replace the French Press though (former barista here, so nit-picking). It should be mentioned that if you do not have a car, it may prove difficult to have this house as your basecamp. But I would say a car is a must if you would like to enjoy Gümüşlük and its surroundings fully anyways, so renting a car would be a win-win. Fantastic stay!! Çok teşekkürler Matt!

Parto col dire che abbiamo prenotato la casa il giorno prima di accedervi perché solo in quel momento abbiamo scoperto di essere stati truffati da un fittuario privato di un’altra villa. La casa era situata in un luogo a 15 minuti da yalikavak molto tranquillo e con vicini cordiali. Presentava una vista stupenda, ed un patio esterno comodo per una colazione/cena all’esterno. La casa pulita e fornita di tutto, e sopratutto era tutto funzionante. L’Host, Matt, è stato con noi sempre disponibile e gentile in ogni richiesta consigliandoci le migliori cose da visitare o ristoranti dove mangiare (Limon una vera scoperta). Matt ci ha permesso di effettuare il check-in con due ore di anticipo. Era presente anche il parcheggio per l’auto sia interno che esterno al cancello.

Sarebbe da migliorare la qualità della biancheria da letto/bagno, aggiungere un phon per capelli e magari rendere i box doccia più comodi a non allagare il bagno. Ma piccolezze rispetto a tutti i benefici presenti in casa e rispetto al costo.

Matt's villa is in a little neighborhood called Koyunbaba on the Bodrum peninsula. It's about an eight minute walk to the beach, and there is a nice pool in the residential complex. We got to know his direct next-door neighbor, who was really helpful and lovely. The house is well stocked and the air-conditioning in the bedrooms works really well. There's no air conditioning on the bottom floor but there are fans and on some days there is a nice breeze. We loved having a base from which we could explore the different parts of the peninsula. Matt himself was very responsive via text and phone call.

At first we had trouble finding the place because the address on Google maps takes you to the wrong part of the street. The house's caretaker Mevlude was very helpful (we speak Turkish so that helped ). The property is right in nature, which makes for an incredible sunset view and a nice break from the city, but it also means lots of bugs. There are very small ants in the kitchen so you have to be very careful about putting things away, and there are loud cicadas in the trees. Also like all houses in this area, the water is brackish and has a high mineral content, so it takes a little while to get used to it. The door also locks if it's closed, so it took us a day or so to get used to keeping the key in the lock box so it was always available and we didn't get locked out.
