Phakalane Retreat is one of those hidden gems that we felt so lucky to discover. We were nestled in this harmonious peaceful quiet safe place. There is lovely walking trials inside and outside the property. We booked for 4 days to be near the shops, but decided not to go shopping at all and rather enjoy the beauty of our environment. The staff were so friendly and we enjoyed the fresh fruits and egg dishes for breakfast. The house was warm and cozy with a fireplace. The bed was comfortable with an electric blanket and the room had a heater for the cold wet nights. We will definitely be back, because it was also affordable. Thank you Phakalane Retreat, we really enjoyed our stay.

Nothing, absolutely nothing.

Beautiful location - the property is surrounded by nature and has a stunning design. The staff is super welcoming and friendly. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the mattresses are very comfortable (they even feature bed warmers). I loved the bathtub and open shower (shower gel provided, but no shampoo or conditioner). Breakfast is fantastic. There is also an option to use the outdoor sauna and cold plunge for a small fee. Lots of outdoor spaces to work and relax from. Beautiful temple where one can do yoga etc

Prachtige architectuur, ruime kamers. Waarschijnlijk een geweldig verblijf op het juiste moment, helaas niet voor ons.

Wij werden zeer vriendelijk ontvangen door de gastheer Lloyd, die wees ons naar onze kamer. Na een tijdje, toen wij al gesetteld waren, bleek dit niet de juiste kamer. Toen werden we meegenomen naar een andere kamer, en was alles erg onduidelijk, want dit was ook weer niet de juiste kamer. Maar we konden wel blijven waar we nu zaten. Oke? Ohw toch niet, het kon wel, maar dan moesten we 2000Zar betalen? Uiteindelijk contact gezocht met de eigenaar, hem hebben we verteld over de situatie en toen konden we in onze kamer blijven en 1000Zar betalen (prima opgelost, wel een wat ongeorganiseerde, onduidelijke aankomst als je een ‘luxe retreat’ verwacht en er ook toch nog best veel voor betaald. Eenmaal in de duurste kamer, welke echt prachtig is, bleken er opeens vele werklui over het terrein te lopen en er zelfs te verblijven. Luid en al rokend liepen ze langs onze kamer, tot laat in de avond, onze badkamer had geen gordijnen, waardoor we al die tijd niet konden douchen of naar onze eigen WC konden gaan, zonder dat je oogcontact maakte. We hoopte uit te slapen, misschien nog een beetje relaxed wat te lezen, maar om 7:00 begonnen de eerste werlui al onder het raam luidruchtig heen en weer te lopen (voor ons onduidelijk wie en waar ze mee bezig waren). Het is waarschijnlijk een moment opname, ik was graag teruggekomen, maar niet na deze ervaring.
