CENTRAL Hostel Lille Centre

I loved staying in the twin dorm. Check-in and check-out were seamless. The bed was already made; the room had new, comfortable furniture, a reliable locker, and high ceilings with palace-like interiors (including a fireplace and a large mirror). Plus, having beds facing an open window made the space feel fresh and airy. The toilets and showers were clean and convenient, with shower gel provided. Great option for solo travelers! My roommate was quiet and respectful. Shout-out to the hostel staff!

The optional breakfast felt a bit pricey at €12, so I skipped it. As the hostel is in a historic building, expect creaky stairs and heavy slamming doors. Also, in shared dorms, guests returning late at night can occasionally cause noise. Good to know: Double-check your payment status upon check-in. There was a system glitch where my prepayment via Booking wasn't showing on their screen, but after I showed my bank confirmation, the receptionist handled it professionally and apologized. Also, keep in mind there’s a small city tax (~€3) to pay on arrival.

Very pretty hostel with an elegant entrance. Staff were accommodating. Also close to the train station, which was convenient.

I have a bad mold allergy and had a reaction while taking a shower. The shower reeks of mold and really needs to be properly sanitized. Also noticed that some stuff had been left by a previous guest in my locker, as well as little pieces of plastic on my bed, so I don’t think they really clean the place very well. The housekeeper came in and “cleaned” while I was in bed, and I again had a reaction, so it seems like they’re cleaning enough to get the mold in the air so that it can spread around the room, but not enough to actually get rid of it.

The place is beautiful and everyone is nice

Having to call a number to get in after a certain hour was a bit annoying but nothing major

Friendly staff, made us feel like part of the family, beautiful hostel, i was shocked this was a hostel - better than some hotels I have stayed at, great location
