Luxury Fire Home - Catania

Proprietà molto gentile ed aperta anche a richieste particolari. Struttura molto bella e pulita. Relativamente comoda al centro, raggiungibile a piedi

Un solo difetto, non c’è il bidet

The apartment was small but enough space for two of us, very clean with modern fittings. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchenette was functional and had a kettle and coffee machine. Bathroom was also very clean and modern. There is free parking in the area but it can be difficult to find a space. There is an African restaurant next door and another around the corner as well as a shop on the corner and a more upmarket restaurant around the other corner. Lidl is about a 5 minute walk away and there is another big supermarket next to this. The historic centre, shops and restaurants are about 15 minute walk away.

As other reviewers have previously said, the air conditioning unit doesn’t work very well (we had this set to 17 degrees full blast and it barely kept the room cool), the shower is at an odd angle but we placed the second bath mat rolled up in front of the shower entrance to stop water leaking out and there can be some gurgling coming from the sink when others are letting out water which sometimes occurred in the early hours. There is a lot of regeneration work going on and I am sure in a year or two the area will look very different and nice. It looks like there will be a lovely park opposite when it is finished if it is kept clean. Unfortunately there is some rubbish on the streets which makes the area look dirty but all the tourist areas are clean.

Excellent location. 10-15 minutes' walking distance to the historic town and also to the great lido near the train station.

Apartment was clean and had good air condition. Silent at night- which was good since the traffic outside was intense

Based on the photos- we expected to arrive at a real appartment. In fact this was two separate rooms connected with a small corridor. The smaller room did not even have a shower inside the actual bathroom- but a big bathroom in the bedroom instead!! We did not have any common social space- but instead we had to see each other in the bedrooms. Balconies were so tiny- You could not sit outside. And there the "city view" was a run down and dirty neighbor hood and an active building site across the road. Not nice at all! Generally it was smelly, full of grafitti and garbage all over the streets around the house. We can read from other guests that the " host was so nice and welcoming..."- but we did not see anyone for the whole week at all. Only text messages to guide us in for check-in and out. This is not Booking standard- and we have used this site for many years...
