Nao-san and Fumio-san, are hostesses through and through. One of the warmest greetings and stays we've ever had and it definitely made our visit to Shikoku all the more memorable. They are located in a very small peaceful village in the middle of the mountains, a place to relax and reload energy and connect with nature. They're also very good and flexible cooks. One of us is celiac and they prepared an amazing dinner and breakfast for the both of us which they were all too happy to accommodate. Couldn't recommend staying here enough.

We had the most magical stay at Kakuenbo – truly the highlight of our entire three-week journey in Japan. We were welcomed like royalty into a charming, beautifully preserved home, and treated to an exquisitely prepared dinner full of variety, flavor, and care. Sleeping to the gentle sounds of the river and the croaking of frogs was a dream, and having private access to the river was an extraordinary touch that made the experience deeply immersive. This was not just accommodation – it was a moment of deep connection with nature, tradition, and human warmth. Unforgettable in every way.
