Mouse House

Great staff, good facilities, overall well managed hostel. The shared spaces are clean, the bedsheets suspicious, but present. The rooms smell, but this is due to the residents' habits, not the place. Under normal circumstances, a great place to stay. In 2026, a great place to stay for Ukrainian men, and a place to avoid by women traveling alone.

The hostel was nice, but the stay was largely unpleasant. There are almost exclusively men there, who seem to be staying a long while. So I had to take extra precautions and essentially disappear from all shared spaces, and make sure I didn't linger too much, to avoid attention and misinterpretations from overly lonely men. There are no real alternatives to be found at sane prices last minute, so know what you're signing up for. Mouse House and Tapok are the same thing, in case you see two listings on Booking.

Very clean, comfortable, quiet, nice staff, NO SHOES INSIDE so -> very clean floors, actually the first ever hostel in Europe which has this policy, very good idea.

The lockers always have the same code, so if there’s someone staying long term they can just take a picture of all the codes and be able to just unlock whatever they want. I’m not saying this happened but just very stupid idea, why not let the people choose their own code?

The location is good; a quiet street off the centre, and near the lake. The rooms were spacious. The beds large, comfortable mattress, and a proper privacy curtain. There was a good locker for each bed, and working plugs and lights. WiFi signal was great. Showers had a decent flow of hot water. There is a small kitchen for self catering.

At least when I was there, this wasn't a backpackers hostel, and the guests were almost exclusively domestic workers, or Ukrainians on the way to and from work. The name of the property on the booking and the name on arrival are different, which can cause confusion..
