Unfortunately, the hostess’s attitude completely ruined what could have been a pleasant stay.
Looking back, the host’s attitude completely overshadowed the experience—there’s nothing positive I can say about this stay
Our stay at this place left us with very mixed feelings. On one hand, the surroundings and location were lovely, but unfortunately, the overall experience was overshadowed by the attitude of the person managing the property.
We stayed for 10 days with our two children. On the very first day, we were told that we were being too loud—our one-year-old was crying, and our older son, who had just fallen asleep, was woken up by the woman who welcomed us. As a result, he didn’t want to go back to sleep. Over the following days, we received messages and even photos showing that a flowerpot had been knocked over by our stroller, with a suggestion that we had done it intentionally. For context, we arrived at the property around 10 PM, and it was already very dark.
One major inconvenience was the lack of communal trash bins. As a family of four, we produced a significant amount of waste and had no idea what to do with it, which caused additional stress.
The most unpleasant moment came at the end of our stay. Although I had cleaned the apartment—washed the dishes, wiped the countertops, and removed the bed linens—I was yelled at by Debora, who angrily asked whether I leave my own home in such a state, implying that I was leaving a mess behind. I had simply left some leftover food, sealed and ready to ask about, but she was so upset that she refused to have any conversation. She also yelled at me for leaving the air conditioning on while the window was open—I had only opened it to air out the room before we left.
I’ve traveled a lot, and I have never been treated like this before. If the hosts have very specific expectations about how the apartment should be left, they should clearly outline them in the booking description—perhaps even state that the apartment should be returned as clean as it was given, including freshly washed bedding.
Lierne itself is beautiful, but unfortunately, this experience left me feeling humiliated and unwelcome.
