La Limonaia, which was originally designed to keep lemon trees warm in the winter, is part of a large estate near Arezzo / Castiglion Fiorentino that once belonged to the renowned Albergottis, a family whose history has been traced back over 1000 years. La Limonaia surrounded by its blossoming gardens is a completely independent, private, baronial-style home with its own cypress-lined entrance and driveway. After parking your car in the covered garage, you’ll walk through private gardens to a beautifully restored baronial guest house. This spacious 3-bedroom 2-bath home for up to five guests will pamper you with the best of sophisticated country living.
Furnished with 19th century antiques, this comfortable retreat offers an open spacious living room with cathedral ceilings, galery with garden views, designer kitchen with granite counter top, central heating, screened windows, unlimited high speed Wi-Fi, cozy fireplace, two patios, gazebo, barbecue, and uninterrupted views of gardens and wooded hills. In addition to the private gardens directly surrounding the house, which are for the exclusive use of Limonaia guests, you can enjoy an 800 meter private jogging trail, and walks through private woods and olive groves.

You can be sure that waiting lines for attractions will be far shorter then usual.
Long-term guests are welcome. Cook and maid service on request.

Our family of grown-ups spent a lovely time at La Limonaia. The house is gorgeous and the park around it lush. Margret's communication by mail was prompt, friendly and caring, and Arthur was a truly friendly, discreet, helpful and generous host. La Limonaia was a wonderful place to seek shade in the hot afternoons, while the garden provided freshness in the evening hours. The house is perfectly situated for cultural visits (apart from the obvious Florence, Siena and Perugia we were able to enjoy a marvelous Luca Signorelli anniversary expo in Cortona). The house is also very well situated for walks in the Tuscan countryside and mountains. We recommend this luxurious summer home for people looking for calm and beauty.

Lovely property with huge garden/grounds.Host was charming and
possessed endless helpful information about anything you could wish.We have stayed in many Tuscan rentals in the past but Limonaia is in a different class. We were sad to leave and hope to return.Grazie Mille Arthur and Margreth.

Our stay for the month of June at the lovely "La Limonaia" was truly memorable. A wonderful renovation of a 19th century limonaia located on a large private estate, this comfortable home felt like our home the moment we walked in. Filled with antiques and lots of comfortable seating, the 2-story living room was a delight. Both bedrooms had wrought iron beds and were extremely comfortable. The gardens are spectacular, with roses, lilies, lavender, hydrangea and more. My husband enjoyed spending time in the garden, doing a bit of pruning! The house is very private, with a private cypress-lined driveway and gated garden. Private, but also very centrally located to exploring Tuscany, with a nearby train station in Castiglion Fiorentino for trips to Florence and Rome.
We enjoyed the many outdoor seating areas to view the olive groves, cherry trees and hills beyond. Arthur and Margreth are great hosts, very responsive but not intrusive.
The weather was unusually hot while we were there, but the house has screens and shutters which kept the interior cool during the day. Highly recommend this property, the pictures online don't do it justice! We can't wait to return.
