More than just a holiday rental, Filanthi’s Retreat is a traditional stone house designed for those who seek silence, nature, and the luxury of time.
Surrounded by olive groves and the rugged mountains of Mani, this is a place to slow down and live simply. Ideal for couples, nature lovers, writers, and anyone who values calm over crowds. We focus on unhurried, meaningful stays (minimum 3 nights).
The House Nestled in a quiet, authentic village of Eastern Mani, the house has been carefully restored to remain true to its roots. It offers warmth, comfort, and a genuine sense of home. With three peaceful bedrooms, we comfortably welcome up to 6 guests, ensuring a spacious and high-quality experience for everyone. You will find a fully equipped kitchen and cozy indoor spaces that invite you to live at a slower rhythm.
The Experience Outside, the garden and the surrounding village paths offer seasonal fruits, lemon and orange trees, and open views of the hills. Mornings are for coffee in silence; evenings for simple meals under the stars with a glass of local wine.
The Location Located just 13 km from Gythio, the house provides easy access to the Mani peninsula while remaining far from the noise. You are perfectly placed for slow excursions to:
Areopolis, Oitylo & Limeni (Authentic Mani architecture)
Monemvasia & Mystras (Byzantine history)
Diros Caves (Natural wonder)

What a wonderful stay we had. It is out there in the countryside up in the mountains away from everything. Very easy to find though. Beautiful views. Filanthi provided so many treats for us. We had a small problem with the washer, but it was probably just our lack of knowledge of European washers. Would highly recommend!!

We spend two weeks in Filanthi´s house.
The house of Filanthi is located in a little village, almost on the top of the mountain which includes a 20min drive to the next town of Gythio. A wonderful retreat if you love nature and quiet places.
Filanthi, her sister (which lives next to the house) and the whole neighbarhood are very nice and kind persons. Filanthis was always available and gave us and really warm welcome and some really nice advices of the places to visit.
The house is lovely with lots of nice areas and we spend a fantasitc time there. As we travel with 5 persons we always book holiday houses for our stay but Filanthis house was the cleanest. My wife is a little bit fussy on this but had absolutely nothing to complain. The house is very well equipped and there is nothing you won´t find in this house with one exception. There is an air condition at the lower floor with works fine but in the sleeping rooms there is no air condition but just ceiling fans. They work pretty well but if you expect air condition in all rooms you will be disappointed.
All sleeping rooms have a nice size and are equipped with TV. There is also a nice sitting area outside which you could use. It´s a yard but with a grill, table, chairs and a lot of nice details.
In total we collected a lot of nice memories in Filanthis house and we would alsolutely recommend it.
