"Southern Comfort" has been renovated. It has all the charm expected of a quaint farmhouse cabin style. Centrally located between downtown Bryson City & Cherokee and only minutes from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Relax in the bubbling hot tub, roast marshmallows by the fire and enjoy the majestic views from the privacy of your own decks. Check out Deep Creek's waterfalls, hiking trails, tubing or take a train ride on the Great Smoky Railroad.
This is a cabin with a cozy quaint farm house feel with wood floors, tongue and groove walls and ceiling. The two floor majestic mountain farmhouse design with huge open floor plan to take in the incredible mountain views.
The first floor boasts a beautifully decorated kitchen with stainless steel appliances and is well appointed with most everything you would need to prepare a gourmet meal. A new gas grill is on the deck for your grill master.
The dining room is a large open area with a custom farm house dining table to enjoy your meals with the whole family with a prime mountain view or enjoy your meals at the table on the open deck.
The large open great room has lots of windows with a leather sofa and love seat or enjoy the cozy chair and ottoman next to the gas log fireplace to read a good book. The game table area has an amazing view and is equipped with many family games and there is also a video library to enjoy on the flat screen HDTV with DVD player.
From the first floor you walk out to a deck to take in the fresh air and relax in the rocking chairs as you watch the sunrise or sunset. Covered decking areas where you can relax and gaze over the mountains during a nice summer shower.
The half bath and laundry room area is also on the first floor for your convenience.
Second floor host Master bedroom with custom designed rustic farm house headboard on a king size bed with antiques oak dresser and custom nightstands. There is a cozy and peaceful sitting area with a wonderful mountain view and there is large flat screen TV.
The second bedroom also, has a custom designed rustic farm house headboard for a queen size bed and also a twin bed and a flat screen TV.
Outside the warmth of the private fire pit will fill your hearts. Laughter and s'mores will make the fire pit an unforgettable experience with bright stars shining above.
The log cabin play house is sure to bring a smile along with the swing set.
Everyone loves a great game of cornhole! There is a wonderful area for a game of Frisbee or be sure to pack your badminton set or your favorite yard games.

Southern Comfort home was lovely. Great view of the mountains. The home was comfortable and cozy. Very clean. Fun decor! Second visit here. We love it!! Thanks Christina

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in November! Short drive to Bryson City and the National Park. Cabin was clean, cozy, and well stocked. The Christmas tree and decorations were a special surprise! We especially enjoyed the fireplace and porch. Host was prompt to respond to questions and so kind and accommodating.

Overall a cute place at an okay value.
PROS:
- Size and layout were perfect for our family of five
- Decor was really cute
- Kids loved the play area near the firepit
- The game area was super inviting - our family finished a game of Monopoly for the first time ever!
- Kitchen was well equipped. We cooked several meals and were able to find everything we needed.
Small Cons
- An inadequate amount of consumables were provided. We had to purchase our own coffee filters and paper towel, and quite nearly ran out of toilet paper as well.
- We also had to purchase an allergen-free laundry detergent since the one used in the cabin was making us break out in rashes just from the sheets and towels.
-The host asks guests to drive to the dump any trash that doesn't fit into the outside can - which seems reasonable until you realize that the outside can fits no more than three bags.
BIG CON: The Road
This one makes the other cons more salient. The map makes it look like this place is in town. No, it is on a mountain. The last 5-6 minutes of the drive is a twisty, turny, steep one-car path. Holy heck, we almost didn't make it up a few times. And when we met a car coming down, we had to back down until we found a place to pull into. Not at all a relaxing vacation experience. Thankfully, the weather was dry for our entire stay so we were able to get in and out successfully. But we did question whether we *actually* needed to go into town since the drive was such a pain - and I literally don't think we could have stayed here in wet weather. The worst part of all - once you finally get up to the top, you can hear highway traffic and dogs barking all day and night. The neighbors were really nice but very close by. If we had known what the road up was like, we never would have stayed here. Now, in all fairness, the host did try to send us a video of the drive up but was never able to get it to us in a format we could view. If you are comfortable or familiar with mountain driving, or have a four wheel drive vehicle, you probably won't have any issues. If you are a family from suburban Michigan in a minivan, please think twice about staying here.
