Tautavel is a beautiful village in the north-east of the Pyrénées-Orientales, a little away from the world, at the bottom of a narrow valley.

However, it is known worldwide, because it is here that the oldest European in history was found. Consequently, a large archaeological museum can be visited on site, as well as a cave, and at the top, a castle and the Torre del Far, "the sentinel of Roussillon".

Stroll through the streets and relax in the shade of the plane trees. Further on, don't miss a visit to the narrow Gorges de Gouleyrous, impressive with the gray color of the rocks and their rounded shapes, hollowed out by the current. There is paid parking and a refreshment bar, but you can still lie down on the pebbles to enjoy the freshness of the transparent water.

Castles, belvederes, priories, medieval villages, gorges are legion here, and why not take the Cerdagne Yellow Train, visit the Sigean Animal Reserve, or spend a pleasant time at the thermal baths of Amélie-les-Bains or Boulou ?
