Between the Montara Mountains and Montara State Beach there is over 10,000 acres of open space to roam around this secluded private beach house. Everything in Montara is within walking or biking distance. Wake up to the fresh ocean air and sight and sounds of the Pacific Ocean roaring in the background. PETS: Pets are not allowed on the property without prior approval. Pets absolutely cannot be left unattended at the property. Pet fees and deposits may be required. Breaking this rule will result in immediate eviction.

We keep coming back because this has become our pup’s favorite staycation spot. He loves the large yard, watching the trails from the windows, and exploring the nearby beach and hiking trails with us.The home is simple, comfortable, and has everything needed for a few days away. During our last stay, the yard had become overgrown with foxtails, which can be dangerous for dogs. The owners responded quickly and sent a gardener, but the clippings were left behind, so we weren’t comfortable letting our pup run freely.A few improvements, such as working windows for enjoying the ocean breeze and a fire pit in the yard, would make the experience even better. Overall, we love the peaceful feel of Montara and look forward to returning.

Overall, we had a great stay and felt the property was a good value for the price. The place is small and cozy, but very comfortable and well-equipped. It had all the amenities we needed—dishes, soap, towels, and everything for a convenient stay.One of the highlights was the setting. There are beautiful mountain views and even a partial ocean view, which made the location feel really special. We also loved how close it was to hiking trails, which my husband and our dog really enjoyed, and it’s not far from the beach either. There were also several great places to eat nearby, which made exploring the area easy and fun.The main downside was that the fire pit in the yard was broken. It would have been amazing to sit outside in the morning with coffee or enjoy hot cocoa by the fire at night. Some lighting in the yard would also make the outdoor space much more enjoyable after dark. Another small disappointment was that not all of the windows could be opened—we would have loved to let in the ocean air and fall asleep to the sound of the waves.That said, the place itself was comfortable and thoughtfully stocked. It’s ideal for two people, though a third could probably use the sofa bed if needed. Overall, it was a cozy, pleasant place to stay and we really enjoyed our time there.Already talking about booking out next staycation getaway here.

This is a great location for coastal and city access. The layout is a little odd and a few things should be improved.
