Durango, Colorado holds the beauty of a vanished world. It is the most tranquil place mixed with history, recreation, and unerasable memories. Our 2600+ square foot custom home on 20 acres is nestled in the mountains overlooking beautiful Columbine Lake. The brilliance of Engineer and Spud Mountain can be seen to the North, and to the East the Animas River which flows through the La Plata Mountains.
The home was created by the hands of a master with each window intricately creating a new view of the lake. Giant doors lead you onto a deck where you'll find a hot tub that you can soak in after your daily activities. At night the sky is so black, you'll feel like you're sitting under an umbrella of stars. The night is so peaceful you can hear the fish in the water. You'll be located at an elevation of 9000 feet somewhere in the vicinity of the gods. The interior is a very comfortable multi-level home with all luxurious amenities that will connect you back to the real world. Now that you've found the perfect place to visit, look no further for a place to stay.
You can walk out and fish for rainbow, brook and brown trout in the backyard. We have a boat you can take out to fish the lake. Boat agreement provided. It is a private lake so you won't see many others. Fishing gear available, you must use catch and release hooks. Summer is the busy season in Durango, you can ride the train, hike, bike, bobsled at the ski area across the street, horseback riding, gold panning or rest and read a book. **We do not allow private boats, kayaks, paddle boards, etc to protect the lake from zebra mussels. Please speak to owners about lake needs.

This was our 3rd year here and just love it. Quiet, gorgeous views just an interesting place. Cupboards full of incidentals if you forgot a small item. Lots of cutlery and cooking items. Running out of different places to eat at in Durango. lol. & after trying 4 diff pizza places haven’t found one that was more than meh. Would love to have a tv in the 2nd bedroom on 1st floor.

Our stay at this property was outstanding! The hosts were amazing and Joe went above and beyond to help us get settled and answer every question that we had. We came in after dark the first night and our Maps app was having difficulty locating the house based on the address (it directed us to the beginning of the property line, rather than to where the actual house is situated). Joe contacted us immediately and kindly talked us through clear directions to the house, entry procedures, and everything we needed to know to get settled quickly. The house was such a great setup for our family. My kids really enjoyed the loft area and found the pull out sofa to be far more comfortable than expected (since the ones found in hotels are never the coveted bed choice). We had everything we needed during our stay--plenty of towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, etc. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cookware too. The fireplace provided such a cozy ambiance for the cabin, and the heated floors in the bathrooms were a fabulous bonus too!We skied at Purgatory during our stay and it was great being located so close to the resort. It took only a few minutes from leaving the house to parking at the resort. Just as the listing photos indicate, the views from the VRBO are just breathtaking! We are very much looking forward to returning to this property again, during both the summer and winter months. Thanks again for everything Joe and Marcia!!

Loved the layout of the house. Beautiful views. House had everything you could possibly need. It was lovely vacation.
