The Space:

The Governor's Mansion was built in 1881 and expanded in 1893 by Governor Jesse McDonald. It splits into 3 lockable units — each with its own living space. 6 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, sleeps 14.

To protect your stay, you'll choose one of two options during online check-in: a $350 refundable security deposit (a temporary card hold, released after checkout) or a small damage waiver ($20/night, max $160).



Guest Access:

The entire mansion is yours — all three units, the sauna, billiard room, kitchen, backyard, and laundry. Smart-lock self check-in, with free parking on the premises and on the street.



Before arrival you'll receive an email link to our digital guidebook — it's the only place check-in details live, and it's where pet registration is handled, so please open it before you travel.



The Neighborhood:

You're one block off Harrison Avenue in Leadville's National Historic Landmark District — restaurants, coffee, museums, and shops are a half-block stroll, so a group of 14 never has to carpool to dinner.



From this corner of town:

- Ski Cooper (15 min), Copper Mountain (25 min), and Vail (47 min) for lift days

- The Mineral Belt Trail for Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and summer rides

- Turquoise Lake (12 min) for paddling, fishing, and shoreline sunsets

- Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive trailheads (about 26 min) — Colorado's two highest peaks

- Leadville's mining district, ghost towns, and Mosquito Pass for history and 4x4 days



Getting Around:

Most of town is walkable from the door — Main Street is half a block away. Free parking at the house and on the street fits a multi-car group, and in winter the free Lake County shuttle and Summit Stage connect Leadville to Copper Mountain and the Frisco Transit Center.

No A/C. Elevation is 10,152 ft — hydrate on day one and pace the kids; altitude sickness is real and not refundable.



This is an 1893 building in the Rockies: period lighting, vintage wear, and the occasional critter come with it. After heavy snow, watch for snow-removal signs on street parking.



Interaction with Guests:

We're locals and a text away — typical response under an hour. With three units and fourteen guests there's always a question or two; ask early, ask often. We'll check in once after arrival, then leave your crew to it.
