Welcome to one of the most unique homes in the state of Maine!
Got a smaller group? Talk to us and see if we can come up with a fair price for your group. This only applies in the off season.
Holiday weekends are generally a 3 night stay requirement. Peak Summer we rent Friday to Friday and renters love it because when you arrive you get a whole weekend AND you avoid the awful Saturday Summer traffic.
This unique and historic lakefront home nestled in the foothills of the White mountains is one of very few in the area able to accommodate large groups under one roof. Owned by a real train engineer, the house has lots of railroad nostalgia sure to thrill all. We boast the largest yard on the lake, great for weddings and summer fun. A Hot tub, horseshoe pit, fire pit, a swing set and sandbox for the kids, a boathouse and a store/restaurant right down the street are amenities hard to find elsewhere.
The house faces to the west which means you will be on the sunny side of the lake, lots of sun and great sunsets. Our huge deck and screened porch afford great views. There are 2 living rooms, each has a cable TV. There is a Pool table, foosball,fireplace, giant, fully equipped kitchen/dining room with woodstove, 2 fridges, 3 freezers, 2 ovens and 9 burners. We do have a nice relaxing hot tub. A separate hot tub fee will apply. Pets are welcome, a pet fee will apply.
The owner being a railroad engineer has put his railroad touch to the home inside and out. Your kids will love the theme.
The home affords large groups to spread out or congregate in our massive main living room.

We are just 40 minutes from the Oxford casino!
Golf: Nearby is the Bethel inn and country club and the new Sunday river golf course. There are a number of other golf courses in the area.homes in all of Maine!

Overall good stay. Plenty of room and features. Beds are more quantity than quality. Some stuff in the kitchen was put away dirty, though I'm sure that's hard to catch. Biggest thing I would say is it really should be made clear that the hot tub requires an extra fee, and both that and the pet fee are paid outside VRBO. It also wasn't communicated until just before arrival.

I'd love to leave a better review, but that's difficult here.House is not air-conditioned as stated - there was one air conditioner sitting on the floor in a corner. No fans in most of the rooms, which all smelled very musty.Most of the beds/mattresses are terrible. I know it's "up to camp", but some were so bad guests chose to sleep elsewhere. It was commented that the master room felt like the sheets had not been changed after the last guest, and the mattress was so poor no one used the room anyway.Kitchen is poorly stocked. We had nowhere near the max stated capacity, and consistently ran out of silverware, etc. The dishwasher was constantly being run to keep up with ten people.Amenities should not require additional charges. If you say there's a hot tub, don't force the renter to pay additional OUTSIDE the VRBO interface. Grill was terrible - told not to use the propane side, but the charcoal side was filthy and filled with pine wood. And to ask for money for a couple boxes of firewood at four thousand dollars a week is just insulting.Finally, we got to enjoy the confrontational conversation with the guy who picks up the trash asking why we were still there on Saturday afternoon - and why we hadn't left yet. Our reservation went through Sunday.We got through, but will not be staying there again.
