THE HOME: Our spacious home has three bedrooms, all on one level and ramped for easy access. The open living and dining areas make it easy for everyone to spend time together, whether on a slow morning before heading to the beach, cooking dinner after a day on the water, or settling in for a movie night. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals, connected to a dining area suitable for 6.
HISTORY: The home has a special connection to the area. It was built by a relative of the Holden family with lumber cut from pine trees on the property, some used for panelling in the great room and one bedroom. You will not find this type of local history and character in a typical vacation rental.
SLEEPING AREAS: The spacious 1900 square foot home has two bedrooms on one side of a great room, both with Queen beds. At the other end of the house the third bedroom has a twin bed, a queen bed, a washer and dryer, and a den/television room with a pull-out sleeper sofa.
OUTDOOR LIVING: This is where the house really shines. Step outside onto the full-length deck on the river/marsh side of the house, with a southern exposure, grill, porch swing, and a modern hot tub. Two kayaks are available for guests, one tandem and one single, who want to get on the water directly from the yard, making it easy to experience this beautiful gem in coastal North Carolina right from home.
PET FRIENDLY: No reason your four-legged family members should miss a vacation. Dogs and cats are welcome, preferably on a flea/tick preventer. So bring them along! Our dog loved the deck; your pets will too.
ENTERTAINMENT: House has wifi (password-protected) and two smart televisions, one DVD. Lots of books in the great room and games in the den are available for guests to browse and enjoy.
CLOSE TO THE BEACH: Want a beach day? Ocean Isle Beach is about 11 minutes away. Spend the day at the ocean, then leave the beach crowds and come back to the peace and quiet of the river.
Holden Beach, Sunset Beach, historic Southport, restaurants, shopping and other Brunswick County attractions are all within each reach.
