If you are truly adventurous, you can hike the 8-mile approach trail to Springer Mountain, where the Appalachian Trail begins. Nice peaceful forest views. Deer came pretty close to the house and didn't seem scared of people. We saw a mama bear and two cubs off the back porch (highlight of our trip). Bed was super comfortable and the hot tub worked well. Would stay again

The property could be a great place for a mountain getaway. The host has taken great effort to make the place acomodating with lots of towels, bath and cleaning products, pots, pans, utensils, ECT. The furniture and bed are comfortable with lots of pillows. But unfortunately our experience was not good on this particular visit. We experienced large black ants in every room and a scorpion next to the hot tub outside. My wife doesn't like bugs of any kind and we felt unsettled trying to sleep wondering where ants might be crawling. We realize the house is in the woods which certainly can be a challenge with pests, but hopefully after a good extermination it will be back to the charming escape that I'm sure has served many travelers well throughout the years.
