Enjoy a piece of Alaska nostalgia, in this beautiful custom log home we call the "Eagles Nest". , Enjoy a view of Mt. McKinley aka "Denali" (the Great One), the tallest mountain on the North American Continent. During the Summer its not unusual to see Moose in the front yard. Grill your dinner while enjoying a glass of wine and a view of city lights and surrounding mountains. Fall asleep in a super comfortable King size bed and just enjoy the quiet. Separate outside deck and picnic table add to charm of this downstairs apartment in this mountain residence. Both inside and out, The Eagles nest is an ideal retreat. its a 15 min drive to South Anchorage for a unique shopping/dining experience. Or a 2 hour drive to world class fishing on the Kenai River or a 30 min drive to Salmon fishing at Bird Creek. There's Hiking/Biking trails in nearby McHugh Creek, including the crystal clear water of Rabbit Lake in Chugach park, enjoy bird watching at Potter marsh.

We enjoyed our stay in Bear Valley. The accommodations had everything we needed for a week stay with kids. We appreciated the blackout curtains in each bedroom and being able to see the city and on a clear day, Mt. McKinley in the distance. The road was bumpy but our sedan made it just fine. Our favorite animal encounters included a Mama moose with her calf and a porcupine!! Will definitely stay here again.

The pictures do not say enough. I was unaware of this area of Anchorage. Woke up to pristine views. Gorgeous! Host is very pleasent, lots of amenities extra blankets Etc. Will stay again.

Nice basement apartment below the owner's home. Super comfortable beds. The road getting to it was a dirt road that was extra rough due to recent storms but definitely doable with our small SUV. The area is out of town a bit and so very quiet with a beautiful view. The only down side was the owner's had a lot of stuff in the frig and bathroom. There was a bit of noise upstairs when owners were home but very minimal, not a problem. They have 3 cute dogs, as well.

Not great due to the owners living above. Movement from dogs & people heard until 11:30pm at least. We are early to bed and early to rise people. Water flowing in wall above headboard. Not a peaceful abode. There was no table to sit at inside. The tiniest of living rooms. To be honest we stayed one night and never came back. Oh and when we left there was a woman who opened the door because the tied up little dog was barking loudly - the dog then proceeded to snip at my leg as we walked by, no other course to take. The last communication from the owner was a couple of weeks out sent a message and he failed to reply until we had already checked in for the 1 night. A loss of for sure, but no way could I have stayed there. Lesson learned never rent with people living above you.
