The village of Harome is nestled between the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the Howardian Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Harome is only two miles from the market town of Helmsley, which has a wide selection of independent shops, bakeries and cafes as well as an arts centre and a mediaeval castle. Other nearby villages include Kirkbymoorside, Pickering and Malton, the northern home of the racing industry and famous for its food festivals and farmers markets. The area is popular with walkers, history enthusiasts and food lovers.

For dining out Harome itself boasts the Michelin Star awarded Star Inn as well as the equally renowned Pheasant Hotel. Both restaurants are very popular and so require booking well in advance.
