Super cute and charming old home in a great location, easily walkable to everything downtown. Host/Anya was very helpful with a few questions we had before and after check-in, easily accessible and accommodating. The bedrooms are all upstairs, and the downstairs has plenty of comfortable common space and a large front porch - this layout suited our multigenerational family group perfectly. We have stayed in various rentals in the damascus area for years, first time at the Trout House and we'll be back - highly recommend!

Friendliest feeling home in the "friendliest town on the AT". Lovely to walk all over town, and beyond, and always be greeted with smiling faces and hellos. Grayson Highlands is always a destination for us and didn't disappoint. So happy the VA Creeper is on its way to recovery!This is a prime location if you love walking the streets of Damascus, visiting the duck pond, or getting out on the Creeper Trail to walk or bike. Concrete parking pads for 2 vehicles is nice and right at the house.Porch sitting and porch swinging is highly recommended!It's super clean and well decorated for form and function. Host is super communicative and helpful. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Two minor suggestions: 1) Add at least 1 TV in one of the bedrooms. 2) Add a rack, hook, or stool, or bench or chair in a couple of places for towels, clothes, putting on shoes, etc. Overall, we loved the Trout House and would definitely rent it again.

Upon arrival, the lock was very tricky. The front storm door needs a pneumatic closer and to fit better. It was difficult to get in and the wind grabbed the door!The smell upon entering was overpowering due to basement water issues. The thermostat was on 57
