The outdoor sauna sits a few steps from the water, and is perfect for sauna / swim activities! There is also a gazebo on the lakeshore that offers a comfortable place to sit with shelter and a great view of the lake and swimming area. The lake bottom is sand and ranges from zero to 3 feet in depth near the dock. A rock fire ring near the lake is a perfect way to spend the evening with friends by the fire, roasting marshmallows.
We have 2 kayaks and 4 bikes in the basement that you are free to use to explore the lake, or the miles long waterfront trail from MTU through Chassell.
Portage Lake is a great fishing lake because it is open to Superior, with Walleye, Pike, Bass and much more. The sauna is perfect for summer use, but must be winterized in the fall, October 15th through May 1st.
