Foresta is a great starting point to various Yosemite destinations, Yosemite Valley, Tuolumne Meadows, the Merced & Tuolumne Groves of Sequoias and many hiking trails. Offering Free satellite TV, WIFI and HughesNet Gen4 internet, Verizon's 4G network is also available.
Foresta is located within the boundaries of Yosemite National Park. Now known as an “inholding”, Foresta (Big Meadow) started as a pioneering area. Two ranches (McCauley and Meyers) provided beef, pork, dairy and vegetables to the Yosemite Valley hotels. In the twenties, it was sub-divided and given the name of Foresta. Created as an “artistic” community, musical gatherings were held by the creek. After the Great Depression, many lots were sold for back taxes. Approximately 75 homes were in use, either full time or seasonally, before the 1993 A-Rock fire destroyed most of them. More than half of the homes have now been rebuilt. Fire has been a defining force in this area, showcasing Mother Nature's endless cycles.

It was a wonderful, clean cabin inside Yosemite. Bit of info - download offline maps Apple Maps prior to getting inside the park. It’s not easy to navigate without maps. Off line maps make trip very easy. It is a bit of a climb and I would definitely get there during daylight. You really need to either print off or download the cabin directions. The host encourages this a she is correct. Our neighbors came in late and didn’t have the instructions for the cabin nor the hosts phone #. Luckily we had just gotten back and helped. Great spot, definitely do your grocery shopping prior to entering the park, we did it in Mariposa. The food, in the park, not great and very expensive. Great and responsive host and would recommend

Great location in the quiet forest close to Yosemite Valley. The home had all the necessities for an easy stay. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was very nice. We very much enjoyed our time here.

This was a simple cabin in the woods. Warning: a lot of information in the ad is incorrect. The property is 25 minutes from Yosemite Valley. Many of the amenities listed were NOT provided (no Mountain View, shampoo, coffee grinder, electric kettle, bowls). The wi-fi did not always work and is very slow when it does. The electricity was out for 12 hours which meant additionally no water or gas. Communication with the owner during this time was minimal and there was no offer of compensation or assistance provided.
A more accurate description would have gone a long way to manage expectations.
