Treetops is Saugatuck’s only rental featuring three neighboring vintage cottages—perfect for multi-family getaways. Nestled around a shared firepit and professionally maintained hot tub, each cottage offers screened porches, harbor or dune views, and generous outdoor space for grilling and gathering. Cottages may be reserved individually or together, depending on availability. This listing is for the entire Treetops compound.
Big Red Cottage: Open concept living space with vintage cottage finishes, soaring ceiling, two separate bedrooms, and separate living space on the lower level (separate entrance). A large full bath on the upper level and a separate private bathroom on the lower level provide plenty of capacity. An expansive screened porch wraps the upper-level front of the cottage, situated directly on the dune bluff; the harbor views are fantastic. Includes washer/dryer.
The Lookout Cottage: A smaller version of Big Red, this cottage is also open concept living with vintage cottage finishes and a lovely farm-style kitchen. A bedroom is attached to the main living space, coupled with a large bathroom, providing plenty of capacity for 4 guests. A queen-sized Room and Board sleeper sofa and sleeping porch with a twin trundle bed is available for extra sleeping. The Lookout has a large screened porch with views of the harbor. The fire pit has the best views in town, you have to see it to believe it! Includes washer/dryer.
Dune Buggy Cottage: The most unique of the cottages, Dune Buggy is the newest one and a special retreat at the top of the dune with a wrap-around porch, studio-style layout with a wood-burning stove, half-bath, and outdoor shower. Guests can open all the windows and enjoy complete outdoor-style (screened-in) sleeping, or keep it closed for a cozy night on the dune. We at Lakewood Lux have recently enhanced the cottage with newly installed climate control (heat and air conditioning) and a thoughtfully designed kitchenette, offering elevated comfort and convenience for your stay. This cottage is the smallest, a perfect sleeping quarter to augment Big Red and The Lookout.

Amazing host who was responsive and helpful. The best stocked VRBO I have ever stayed in! Plenty of comfortable sleeping options for our large group although the bed arrangements were different than what we expected from the listing. Families with young children should be aware that the red cabin lower level with 2 twin beds is completely separate from the upper level. Great air conditioning in all bedrooms for hot summer days. Incredible location for beach access and other fun local activities. Bring sleeping masks because there are no curtains in most of the bedrooms (Dune Buggy, Lookout, Lower Red Cabin).

We brought our leadership team here for a few days of strategic thinking, relaxation, and group therapy disguised as PowerPoint slides—and left with a renewed sense of purpose, a suspicious amount of deer selfies, and mild shower envy.Pros:Fully stocked kitchen: We could’ve hosted Top Chef: Retreat Edition. Every utensil you can imagine. We didn’t use most of them, but just knowing it was there made us feel accomplished.Walkable location: Easy stroll to the chain ferry, which felt like stepping into a Tom Sawyer reboot. Decor: Eclectic cabin vibes - think Grandma’s cottage, but she’s very cool.Cleanliness: Immaculate. You could eat off the floors, but with so many utensils, why would you?Cozy vibes: Surrounded by trees, it was like a group hug from Mother Nature. Deer: So. Many. Deer. Like a Disney movie, but with more awkward morning run encounters.Caveat: The smallest cabin has no indoor shower, which we knew going in. There is an outdoor one, which is technically private but also technically outdoors. A great choice if you want your shower with a light breeze, mild adrenaline, and the distant sound of a chipmunk judging your shampoo brand.
