Ferragudo is a small fishing village in the Algarve situated at the mouth of the Arade River, across from Portimão. Very picturesque, the village has retained its original character and features cafés, ice cream shops, restaurants, banks, a post office, a pharmacy, a tobacco shop, and traditional stores.

The Fort of S. João do Arade separates Angrinha Beach from Ferragudo’s Praia Grande (a very calm beach where the Arade River meets the sea)
Ferragudo’s Praia Grande is 1,000 meters long, has a parking lot, holds a Blue Flag certification, is very calm, and is considered one of the best beaches for children in the Algarve. It is monitored by lifeguards with a patrol boat, watchtowers, and supervised by the harbor master’s office. With several restaurants and beach cafés, we recommend the “A NAU” Restaurant and Bar and the Kalu Beach Bar. Average water temperature in summer: 22° / Winter: 15°
During the summer, there’s an inflatable water park where kids can have fun, and kayaks are also available for rent.

Very close by but in the opposite direction, about 9 km away, you’ll also find the town of Carvoeiro. Full of charm and very touristy, Carvoeiro is lively and popular with tourists year-round.

If you enjoy a lively atmosphere and nightlife, head to Praia da Rocha (about 8 km away), where you’ll find plenty of entertainment, bars, restaurants, and nightclubs.
