A warm welcome awaits you at Monastery Barn. Recently refurbished it offers guests the home comforts & facilities needed for a relaxing stay in the country. Can accommodate 6-8 guests & up to 4 dogs. Safe doggie secure south facing garden & courtyard parking for up to 4 cars.
Located in the picturesque village of Shutford in North Oxfordshire surrounded by open countryside, it is just a short walk to the village pub “The George & Dragon” known for its friendly atmosphere, open log fires, good local ales & home cooked food.
For those enjoying a short break or an extended holiday in the Cotswolds - the sleepy villages of honey-coloured stone & lively market towns of Banbury, Chipping Norton, Moreton-in-Marsh, Shipston-on-Stour or Stow-on- the-Wold are all within easy reach as are the busier destinations of Bicester Village, Oxford & Stratford-Upon-Avon. Alternatively visit stunning Palaces, Castles & Country Houses; walk & ride along rural historic trails, footpaths & bridleways to explore ancient woodlands & wild flower meadows or simply enjoy a game of golf or tennis, or take to the skies in a glider for an altogether different view.

Is presented to a high standard, having been recently refurbished using muted colours, stone & wood so as to create a relaxing & cosy atmosphere for 6 guests. House/Barn Rules
Occupancy
The maximum occupancy of the Barn is 6-8 guests, at any point during your stay - feel free to invite additional friends (up to 4) to spend the day/evening with you. Infants who sleep in a cot do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions, the occupancy figure may only be exceeded by one additional infant. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms & conditions & may result in the cancellation of your booking/additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than 6-8 guests visit the Barn.
Arrival & Departure Times
Arrival time is after 4.00 pm & departure time is between 9.00am-10.00 am. Late check outs are available by arrangement & incur an additional charge. Check out at 2.00 pm incurs an additional payment of £120. Check out at 5.00 pm incurs an additional payment of £180.
Interaction With Guests
The owners, Alastair & Patricia have a Barn across the courtyard so are on hand should you need any help during your stay, otherwise they are invisible !!
Initial Consumables
A small quantity of initial consumables are provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, sugar, washing up liquid, soap, washing powder, kitchen rolls, toilet rolls, etc).
Housekeeping
Where a letting exceeds 9 nights, a mid-stay clean, bed linen & towel change is included in the price. Additional housekeeping services may be available on request.
Services Provided
The property has free wireless internet access and a 42" Freeview/Sky TV. There is a landline telephone at the property for local/national calls only & mobile phone reception is generally OK.
Health & Safety
The property has two floors. Although there is a banister, the stairs could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility or guests carrying babies/children, both in terms of movement & their ability to quickly exit the Barn in the event of an emergency.
The smoke detectors operate on a sound basis, therefore those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems.
Smoking
No smoking is permitted inside the Barn, just in the courtyard & walled garden.
Dogs (up to 4)
A basket of toys & a bowl of water will be ready to greet your dogs on arrival. The garden is safe, secure & totally enclosed with solid fencing that is over 6ft high. In front of the fencing are trees & bushes. In our welcome pack we also have maps of the local dog walks both short & long (Shutford Village Trail & Circular Walk, Shennington & Alkerton Walk, Broughton Castle grounds (all very local - next villages). The majority of the local pubs are very dog friendly with bowls of water & doggie biscuits behind the bar. Our previous four legged guests have included St Bernards, Red Setters, Belgian Shepherds, Labradors, Springer Spaniels, Poodles, Terriers, Cockerpoo's, Beagles, Pugs. Nos of Dogs by arrangement.

Patricia & Alastair were brilliant hosts. Very thorough throughout the booking.The house is lovely with plenty of character and well equipped.Extremely pet friendly with toys for dogs, toys and books for children too and even chocolates and water in the bedrooms.Nice, safe garden with plenty of seating to enjoy the sunshine. Everything was perfect! You could wish for better hosts than Patricia and Alastair, so welcoming and accommodating. The facilities at the barn were exceptional, can’t think of anything that wasn’t readily available to make it feel like home. A great place for our fur babies. Just wish we could have stayed longer

Alistair and Patricia were fantastic hosts. They sent wonderful notes ahead of our stay, called us to check in and prepared the barn by setting the table, welcome drinks, stocking the fridge with essentials and leaving treats for us in the bedrooms. They made great efforts to make it work for all 3 generations, providing a football for the boys and showing them the local park and signposting us to all sorts of interesting places. Big thanks

Absolutely beautiful!!! We were looking for some where peaceful, relaxing and homely that we could enjoy knowing our furry babies would be totally safe and we could not have asked for more!!! Alistair and Patricia were wonderful and welcoming and could not have been more accommodating. I would not hesitate to book again!!!
