This truly magnificent famhouse is perched on the edge of the beautiful Manifold Valley, famed for its lime-stone crags and caves. Approached by a farm drive, nestling in a secluded spot, it enjoys breathtaking valley views. Very well furnished and equipped, its history is impressive - its date-stone pin-points the farmhouse’s origin at 1810, however, field name documents reach as far back as the 13th century. Set on the edge of the owners’ working farm, cows and calves herd themselves across over one hundred acres of farmland, with an abundance of wildlife and walks from the doorstep.
At Wetton Mill in the Manifold Valley amidst some staggering scenery, a cycle trail, closed to traffic for most of its route, follows the line of a narrow-gauge railway, (which ran from the turn of the century until the 1930s) and a river for some seven miles - even passing through the old railway tunnel. Cycle hire is available locally. Ideal for exploring Staffordshire and Derbyshire, Ashbourne, Buxton, Bakewell, Dovedale, Carsington Water, The Potteries and Alton Towers are all within a 25-minute drive. Butterton 1 mile. Butchers 1 mile. Shop 7 miles.

I had the most beautiful experience in a remote town. The property is surrounded with hills and nature, quiet and homely. We relaxed in the hot tub and all learned how to manage the wood fired maintenance. Everything I wanted for my 60th Birthday. We all walked to a local pub but mainly entertained ourselves with games, painting and socialising. Can only describe the place as perfect. Slight negative as one shower was cool. The kitchen had every utensil and more ! So homely. Thank you for making my special day even more special xx

Nice location, clean, kitchen has everything. Only one electric shower, the other one is in the bath tub(not electric).The electric shower has seen its days, needs replacing, poor pressure, water comes wither piping hot or stone cold. With just one shower for 12 people thus needs urgent replacement. Wasp nest right in the middle of sitting area amongst the stone blocks in the garden. Needs removing as discourages us using the garden patio which was really good.Hot tub good.No other issues. If electric shower replaced and wasp nest removed, it's a five star 🌟

The cottage was situated in the most idyllic setting. A beautiful view from the rear of the property and the hot tub.
The property was perfectly functional, maybe some updating would make this the most perfect retreat

Our group of friends stayed for a midweek break. Loved all the walks (local stroll to Butterton, then serious walking The Roaches and Manifold Way. Just sorry that the cycle hire places had closed down for the winter. Excellent meal at The Black Lion pub. The house is very well equipped and very comfortable. We'll be back!
