It was a perfect location for walking into York, yet tucked away on a lovely quiet street. It was a peaceful location and we were very impressed with the house.

An adorable home base for exploring York. Location is walkable from both the train station and historic centre. Self-checkin was smooth. The cottage is charmingly outfitted with vintage flair. The heating was a little wonky but we figured it out after a couple of days. Stairs are steep but manageable. The neighbourhood is delightful. Be sure to check out the 11th-century church just steps away. And the historic Ackhorne pub just around the corner. Victoria Cottage would be especially lovely for a winter stay. I would stay again in a heartbeat.

Excellent house in great location. Warm and clean. The only downside is that there was no opportunity to recycle any rubbish. We contacted stays York to ask where to put the glass and they suggested with the rest of the rubbish. We left them in the house! Also it would be helpful if some additional rubbish bags and some surface cleaner could be left . BUT, notwithstanding the minor details the house is excellent!!!
