Secret Moon is a beautifully refurbished wooden Chinese house in a quiet, rural location that worked well for us. It is within a 10 minute walk to the famous lake, which was a definite highlight of our stay in Dali. There were some restaurants nearby, many cafes by the lake and a local supermarket. It was very easy to get to the old town, using a taxi or an electric bike, which you could hire from Linlin. We loved the beautiful artwork throught the property, the attention to detail and the sense of space. Our room was on two levels with an amazing high ceiling and a wood burner, which we used on a couple of nights. The bed was very comfortable and we slept really well there. The shower room was modern and stylish, with good water pressure and the temperature was easy to regulate. There were many lighting options which we appreciated. The outdoor area was lovely and we used it often, enjoying the company of the cats. We had the use of the kitchen where we prepared our own breakfasts. We could also use the laundry facilities there. We felt completely comfortable and at home at Secret Moon. The best thing about it were the hosts. Thomas and Linlin recommended shops where we could get organic produce, restaurants, interesting places to visit, they even booked us an appointment at an organic tea garden which was an amazing experience! We booked for two nights, but ended up staying for two weeks. Thank you Thomas and Linlin.

Mosquitoes. The property provides the plug in repellents and tiger coils. The windows have fitted mosquito nets, but you might want to take your own repellent.

Cutest place ever, love the tiny stove, made the stay even cozier…. Wooden house is always my favorite hahaha. Linlin was a wonderful host, super helpful and the 3 kittens were so adorable 🥰 location is quiet, close to the lake but not touristy, still has the feeling of Dali country side. Would definitely come back next time💜

The toilet is downstairs, if use it in the middle of the night need to walk mindfully on the wooden staircase, I was fine but imagine it wouldn’t be very old people friendly
