Villa 20 Fort

Loved every minute of our stay at Villa 20. Firstly, the location is 10/10. Cant stress this enough. The front door is right at the intersection of peddlar street and the back door opens up to the beautiful expanse of lush green garden and the fort walls. The fort walls are right there! The villa is a couple hundred years old and is beautifully maintained. The art and artifacts inside are extremely tasteful. The owner, Mr Naveen, was always reachable by phone and Whatsapp. He in fact communicated with us before we even travelled to Galle and ensured we had everything we needed right up to the drop to the airport. Mr Mahela - the caretaker and cook of Villa 20 was genuinely a delight and took care of us and made our stay the most comfortable. We literally had nothing to complain about. He was so fun to talk to and be with. The daily breakfast is totally customizable in respect of varierty and time. We preferred a late breakfast so it was a hearty brunch every single day! This is such a hidden gem. Can't recommend it enough.

Manela, de housekeeper, was absoluut top! Stond steeds klaar voor ons, maakte de lekkerste ontbijtjes. Toen de stroom uitviel bij een flinke regenbui was hij er binnen no time in het te verhelpen. Hij was supervriendelijk en enthousiast. De villa ligt midden in Galle Fort, dicht bij winkeltjes en restaurantjes. Er is een fijne jacuzzi in de tuin om lekker af te koelen, maar je kunt hem ook verwarmen energiek.

De eerste dag rook het muffig, vochtig in sommige kamers. Daarom een 9 ipv een 10.

The villa had so much character, an incredible representation of an old merchant house but with modern comforts. Excellent location and generous space. Manela made our stay so enjoyable, he was so helpful and friendly. He cooked the most amazing Sri Lankan breakfast. Thank you

We were keen to stay in a historic home in GalleFort and Villa 20 Fort did not disappoint. Ideally situated close to everything, this lovely villa was filled with character and charm, giving us a glimpse into the design of homes some 300 years ago. This home has all the modern conveniences and very comfortable beds and bathrooms, with access to a washing machine provided. The bedrooms are beautifully air conditioned and there are ample ceiling fans in the property. As noted by others, the host Manela is a lovely, friendly man who made us most welcome and answered all our questions. He returned in the morning to prepare a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast for us (we could have chosen a non traditional breakfast, but why would we do that?). An outdoor jacuzzi was available but we didnt have time to use it. Highly recommend. One night is not enough. Stay a while in Galle Fort. You wont be disappointed!

It was exactly as we expected so no complaints.
