The Brown House is a charming lodge that serves as the perfect base for a rural escape to the South West corner of England.. 4 steps to entrance.
All on the Ground Floor:
Living room: Freeview TV, DVD Player, Sofa Bed (Double) (Flexible Sleeping Only), Patio Doors Leading To Decked Area

Bedroom 1: Kingsize (5ft) Bed Ensuite: Bath With Shower Over, Toilet

Bedroom 3: 2 x Single (3ft) Beds
Bathroom: Bath With Shower Over, Toilet. Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels included and Wi-Fi included. Travel cot and highchair. Small garden with sitting-out area and garden furniture. Fishing on-site (licence required). Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.. The Brown House is the perfect holiday home and has an enviable position close to Clifford Water fishing lakes within the Hartland Forest development. The lodge is located in a quiet and rural location surrounded by hundreds of acres of Forestry Commission land, just two miles inland from the A39 Atlantic Highway on the North Devon/Cornwall border between Bideford and Bude. It really is the ideal choice for a relaxing break.
The beautiful National Trust Sandymouth beach in Cornwall is a short drive away, with good surfing, relaxing on the sand or walks along the cliffs. Slightly further into Cornwall you will find Bude and its choice of two beaches, shops and surf schools. On the North Devon coast there is easy access to the South West Coastal Path and more great walks, including Hartland Lighthouse and the popular tourist town of Clovelly. Bikes are available to hire in Bideford for family-friendly cycling on the Tarka Trail.
The village of Woolsery is home to a highly acclaimed restaurant and adjacent fish and chip shop, perfect for an evening out or an evening in.
The property owner supplies a fishing pass so you can enjoy fishing for carp, roach and tench in the adjacent lakes. Golf, surfing, sailing, high rope courses and horse riding are all on offer close by. For family fun The Big Sheep and The Milky Way Adventure Parks are close by and there are numerous National Trust properties in the area. Beach 7 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

Property extremely clean and as described. Only criticism is that it was a lot more remote than we were expecting. Husband and son enjoyed the local fishing.

The Brown House is in a quiet rural location amongst a number of similar lodges, the views are beautiful and there is fishing and walking in the area. Although it feels like you are miles from anywhere the main A 39 Atlantic Highway is only a few minutes drive up the lane, making this a great base for exploring this corner of North Devon/Cornwall.
We were very comfortable in The Brown House, it was lovely and warm, there was plenty of hot water and the kitchen was very well equipped.
We found the sound on the TV was rather distorted, so wondered if the set needed attention? Also there are only communal waste bins on site, so we had to save our rubbish and drive it round to the bins. These are my only negatives and they did not detract from our holiday, we had a lovely relaxing break.

If you want a nice quiet base for trips around north Devon and Cornwall then this lodge is perfect. It has a great location within the site and the site is secluded but within 3 minutes of the A39. It was clean and a good size for the cost. Only disappointment was the wifi but it is in the middle of the countryside so it did my kids good not be on YouTube for a couple of days.
