Deluxe my A*se! Avoid this property even in an emergency.
The manager of the property allowed me to arrive a couple of hours early. Nobody had stayed in the apartment the night before my arrival.
Communication was good.
This was described on booking.com as a Deluxe One Bedroom Apartment so I was surprised to find:
* Filthy carpets inside and on the stairs/landings. The muck was so thick it had become solid and a slip hazard on the stairs
* 20 - 30yr old mismatched broken 2nd hand shop furniture
* Fridge not functioning. - It had not been unpacked or plugged in and still had tape and polystyrene packing inside. I shouldn't be moving white goods in a deluxe apartment.
* Microwave oven - as above
* Washing machine - no power and no visible mains switch
* Cordless Kettle - No base so no working!
* No crockery
* No Cutlery (other than the standard 2 mugs tea spoons sachet combo from every other hotel room, but no working kettle anyway.
* Bathroom - Filthy, not cleaned thoroughly for some considerable time. Shower head broke on first use. Bath/ shower taps required brute force to turn them initially. No anti-slip bath mat
* Bedroom - Exceptionally hot as at top of the building, only one opening window in bedroom and one in living room (opened to legal requirement. No fan supplied.
* Bedroom wardrobe is a row of hooks on the back of the main flat door with some plastic coat hangers - Not very deluxe
* Bedroom - Boiler housing fallen off exposing potentially hot pipes and bare electrical connections
* Damp patch on wall
* Decor - shoddy, old and often broken. Bare light bulbs throughout with only ceiling light fittings available, not 1 side lamp even in bedroom.
* WiFi not available as stated
* No television. Not stated that it would have a TV, but this is 2025, what Deluxe hotel room has no TV?
* Sofa split in two when sitting on it.
* Odour 88- smelled of cooking food from other apartments
* dark, dismal, dirty and depressing.
£495 for 3 nights doesn't seem like a lot, but even at that price it was nowhere approaching value for money. I couldn't wait to leave.
