There's a difference between staying somewhere and actually enjoying where you're staying. This is the second kind.

Tucked inside a historic red brick building in Fort Wayne's West Central neighborhood, this one-bedroom apartment has the kind of character that newer places just can't manufacture. Original architectural details, a working fireplace for the kind of evenings that call for one, and a front balcony that's just right for a morning coffee or an end-of-night wind-down.

Inside, everything is set up for a comfortable stay without any fuss. The full kitchen has what you actually need to cook — pots, pans, a blender, a coffee maker, spices already stocked. The living area is warm and easy, and the queen bed is where you'll want to be after a full day out.

And full days are easy to come by here. The neighborhood walks well — a Walk Score of 83 means most of what you need is close. Five blocks gets you to downtown Fort Wayne, where local restaurants, shops, and the TinCaps ballpark fill out the evenings. Electric Works, the city's buzzed-about new creative and dining destination, is just minutes away and worth checking out while you're in town.

Come back, light the fireplace, and decide you should have booked longer.
