AVOID THIS DREADFUL APARTMENT
All the issues below are fact - if you think I’m exaggerating (and I would understand if you thought I must be!) then please call Sofia of Anjana Homes (the local Agent - who was very helpful) on +34 613 03 61 19 to verify.
• On arrival there was not one toilet roll available - nor a customary bottle of cold water in the fridge (30 cents at Lidl).
• There are no sidelights whatsoever in the combined lounge/dining-room area - just two ultra-bright ceiling lights which cannot be operated independently or dimmed. Consequently, in the evening, when eating or sitting in the lounge you have to either stumble around in the gloom with lights off, or have both ceiling lights on. However, the piercing intensity of the two ceiling lights gives the room (which has a white ceiling and walls) all the charm and ambience of a prison cell - it’s a very unpleasant place to be after dusk.
• There are no side tables in the lounge to put drinks on - just the one central table.
• There is no Netflix or Prime subscription for the TV - so unless you have your own subscription or speak fluent Spanish and enjoy banal commercial channels then the TV is little more than a pointless wall ornament.
• For clarity, the pool is closed and padlocked shut until further notice due to serious Health & Safety concerns - local rumour is it is unlikely to ever reopen. This is now noted on the property description - but it wasn’t when we booked and we were not informed in advance (nor was or a previous occupant - see earlier reviews).
• There are no fly-screens on any doors or windows and mosquitoes are prevalent. Your choice therefore is have no ventilation (and fry in summer) or spend time during the night hunting and killing mosquitoes that enter through open windows - as happened to us first night. The multiple small ‘red splodges’ on the bedroom walls at high level suggest we weren’t the first nocturnal mosquito hunters.
The patio door from lounge to balcony took a Herculean...
effort to open (my wife simply couldn’t open it). With a mighty yank I managed (just). Conversely, the patio door from main bedroom to balcony cannot be locked due to a broken/worn lock mechanism - consequently, until this is fixed the property is physically INSECURE and therefore UNSAFE.
• The bottle tray in the fridge is cracked from one end to the other. Furthermore, there is no bread knife or breadboard - in fact the ‘longest’ kitchen knife has a 15 cm blade. There are no milk or juice jugs, no teapot, no vegetable peeler and the cutlery looks and feels like a child’s play set - the main knifes are actually butter knives with a 4 cm serrated edge (try cutting meat with these). There was also no tray in the oven grill pan.
• The sundeck of this four person apartment has two hard, cheap plastic sun-beds - with no cushions, two plastic chairs and a plastic table. You’ll need a roster for who gets a turn and when - or like us not bother as they are so uncomfortable.
• If it rains you will need to make your own entertainment (see previous comment about TV) - there was by way of games and books one pack of cards and two paperbacks - in total. We are used to a sideboard packed with games - especially for children.
• The shower worked well enough - but pretty it isn’t. Whoever fitted the shower unit clearly had only a peripheral relationship with the concept of craftsmanship.
• The upper sheet on the main bed was 100% polyester - a disgusting choice of material for use in a hot climate.
• There were no cleaning compounds (hygienic wipes etc.) whatsoever and the clothes drying rack had just six (6) pegs - we had to buy more.
If you enjoy disappointment, living in a holiday home equipped with fixtures and fittings of the cheapest and lowest grade of quality conceivable (or simply absent) and to come back home feeling cheated out of your hard-earned Euros then this is the place for you. If not, then I strongly recommended you actively AVOID this awful apartment.
