Rainbow Sky Retreat

We were surrounded by farms, mountains views and were close to part of the railway line where you can see many people walking along the tracks. Beautiful morning views and stormy afternoons in the hot tub on the balcony were highlights of our stay, along with waking up to incredible jungle sounds from the incredibly rich wildlife.

Information about what was included in the stay wasn’t easily accessible. Messaging the host on WhatsApp was helpful, however an easy to access booklet of what’s included in the stay, times/menu for breakfast, local recommendations for food/walks, contacts and tips for getting around would have been useful.

Very Disappointing Experience – Not Recommended My one-night stay at this hotel in Sri Lanka was a terrible experience. The toilet had no lock, dinner was forgotten and only arranged after 1.5 hours of waiting and repeated reminders, and dogs barked throughout the night, disturbing our sleep. The worst experience was during early checkout. After waiting for two hours with no response to our calls and nobody available to assist us, we arranged our own transport at our own expense. When the hotel staff finally arrived, they created a scene and accused us of trying to leave without paying. The manager was absent, and the people managing the property showed a complete lack of responsibility, professionalism, and respect. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We really enjoyed our time at Rainbow Sky Retreat. The view from the property is beautiful, especially in the morning. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean, and everything we needed was available. The staff were friendly and always willing to help with transport and other arrangements. The location is a little away from the busy centre, but for us that actually made the stay more peaceful and relaxing. A nice place for a few days in Ella.

Unser Aufenthalt im Rainbow Sky Retreat war insgesamt wirklich sehr schön und wir haben uns hier sehr wohlgefühlt. Besonders begeistert hat uns unser Zimmer: Es war modern, sauber, gepflegt und mit allem ausgestattet, was man für einen angenehmen Aufenthalt braucht. Das absolute Highlight ist jedoch die wunderschöne Lage mit einem fantastischen Ausblick auf die umliegende Natur und den Dschungel. Gleichzeitig hat man einen tollen Blick auf die Eisenbahngleise und kann mit etwas Glück sogar die berühmten Züge vorbeifahren sehen – für uns ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis. Das Personal war stets freundlich, aufmerksam und hilfsbereit, wodurch wir uns jederzeit willkommen gefühlt haben. Auch die ruhige Lage abseits des Trubels von Ella hat ihren besonderen Charme und eignet sich perfekt, wenn man etwas Abstand vom touristischen Treiben sucht.

Zu beachten ist allerdings, dass die Unterkunft etwas ausserhalb von Ella liegt und die An- und Abreise praktisch nur mit dem Tuk Tuk möglich ist. Für uns war das kein grosses Problem, sollte aber bei der Planung berücksichtigt werden. Leider konnten wir während unseres Aufenthalts auch den Pool nicht nutzen, da dieser gerade umgebaut wurde.
