Kemet Pyramids View Hotel

Staff were so lovely and helpful. Very modern and in a good location, surrounded my shops, etc. A lot of negatives but for the price and amazing hospitality its worth it. Also a door man on the street outside to help you locate ubers, etc.

We booked an airport transfer through the hotel which was late by 40 mins. We didnt mind as they gave it us for free but caused unwanted attention at the airport which wasnt the best start to the holiday. We paid for a room with a pyramid view but when we got in the room we didnt even have a window, they offered to move us the following day but we were already out siteseeing at that point. There was dirt on the bathroom floor that we had to cover with a towel and the cleaner never come to our room. It was also very loud with music banging from the rooftop, the first morning it started at 9am.

The hotel is conveniently located close to the Giza Pyramids with a great view of said pyramids from the rooftop. Here there is a small pool with a small restaurant serving a great lamb tagine (we ate out other nights). The hotel staff (after our initial negative experience) were enthusiastic and attentive and we were made to feel very welcome! Our final room was on the 3rd floor (after two changes), so although we had a decent view it was obviously not as good as the rooftop, nor the 5th floor panoramic room that we had been lead to believe we'd receive when checking in. We found the cleaning staff thorough (and polite) and we were very happy with the standard of hygiene.

We had a bad start with this hotel where our room booked 9 months previously was apparently not available for the first night. So they put us in a tiny box room with poor air conditioning. For 2 beefy guys this wasn't great, but we didn't complain until there was no WiFi. Reading reviews after the fact, it appears this happens to guests from time to time at this hotel. At this point they moved us into a much bigger room with a decent aircon. It was late at night so the view didn't matter and we had an early tour the next morning. Because of the early tour we had arranged for a boxed breakfast which somehow wasn't communicated to the kitchen. At this point we had some stern words about the treatment and said they had an opportunity to turn matters around or get a 1* rating. To be fair to the team, they rose to the challenge. We were moved into a decent room of the type we had booked (panoramic pyramids view) and every member of staff became very attentive. Based on the experience of the last 2 days (of 3) we would have given them a higher rating. The only 3 let-downs were the busy road noise (constant hooting) which you get used to, the lack of mattress protectors (the single sheet would slip aside, leaving you sleeping on the mattress directly) and we found the breakfast selection disappointing (but with excellent coffee).

Problem with the wifi

colazione mediocre e ripetitiva, posizione strepitosa: a due passi dalle piramidi e con un affaccio mozzafiato. La struttura è valida rispetto allo standard egiziano, molto meno se la si misura con il metro europeo.

Nessun appendino in bagno, non vengono forniti accappatoi, cassaforte non utilizzabile perchè non fissata al muro (si poteva tranquillamente prendere e portare via dalla camera), finestra praticamente murata (la parete della casa di fronte era a mezzo metro di distanza), materassi piuttosto duri e cuscini scomodissimi; i sanitari in bagno sembravano essere stati posati da un muratore ubriaco tanto erano storti. Il personale è molto gentile ma piuttosto pigro, per ottenere quello che si chiede bisogna sollecitare più volte. La stanza è fornita di bollitore e tisane ma non c'è bicchiere, per poter usufruire del servizio abbiamo dovuto trafugarne uno dal bar perchè non era possibile ottenerne in altro modo, ovviamente terminate le bustine non sono state riassortite.
