Summary:

Moonlight Mesa is named for the way the moon lights up the land at night, and the open mesa of North Joshua Tree gives it plenty to light. The newly built house keeps its best seats on a big covered porch: a six-person saltwater hot tub, hanging chairs, a gas fire pit. Beyond it are a seasonal 8-foot cowboy tub (closed November through March), hammocks, and a daybed made for lying back and looking up. Two king suites, each with its own bath. On a full moon, skip the porch light.



The Space:

Moonlight Mesa is a newly built modern home on 2.5 acres on the open mesa of North Joshua Tree, named for the way the moon lights up the land at night. The large covered porch holds a saltwater hot tub, hanging chairs and a gas fire pit, and just beyond are a cowboy tub, a daybed and hammocks. Inside, two king suites, a half bath and a sofa bed suit couples traveling together or a small group of up to six. Drop the needle on a record and leave the sliders open to the night.

-Outdoor Amenities-

The large covered porch has a six-person saltwater hot tub and two hanging chairs. Fire up the gas BBQ, then gather around the gas fire pit in the covered conversation area for sunrise or sunset. Just off the porch, cool off in the 8-foot cowboy tub; it is not an in-ground pool and is closed November through March. The daybed is the spot for stargazing, and the backyard has hammocks and giant Jenga.



-Living Area-

The open living space has large windows, a smart TV, a record player with a record collection and a Bluetooth speaker, plus board games and books. A half bathroom is off the living room, and the sofa folds out into a bed for larger groups.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The fully stocked modern kitchen has stainless steel appliances, plenty of counter space, cookware, spices and olive oil. A drip coffee maker, coffee, sugar, creamer and tea are provided. Eat at the dining table with views or outside on the porch's outdoor couches.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

The primary bedroom has a king bed, a smart TV, a large walk-in closet, sliding glass doors to the front patio and an ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom also has a king bed, an ensuite bathroom with a closet off it, a smart TV and a private workspace.



-Surrounding Area-

Downtown Joshua Tree, the Integratron and the West Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park all make good outings from Moonlight Mesa.

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.

The Neighborhood:

Moonlight Mesa is in the Hidden River neighborhood of North Joshua Tree, on the open mesa about 12 minutes from downtown. All homes in this area are on acreage, giving guests wide open space and privacy. The last 1.5 miles to the home are dirt roads.

Getting Around:

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



Please note that Moonlight Mesa is in a remote location, and the final stretch to the home is on dirt roads, so please take it slow. The dirt roads are maintained, and a four-wheel drive car is not necessary, but please note that the dirt road conditions vary and may have bumps and ruts, particularly after rainstorms.



Other Things to Note:

-Cowboy Tub-

The pool at Moonlight Mesa is an 8-foot cowboy tub, not an in-ground pool. The cowboy tub is drained and unavailable for guest use during the winter months (November through March) to prevent the filter from freezing and breaking.



-House-Specific Rules-

► Please avoid using the hot tub right after it has been serviced, while chemical levels are temporarily higher.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

The cowboy tub and hot tub are serviced Mondays and Thursdays, approximately between 11am and 4pm. Please note that these times are estimates and may change slightly due to our technician's busy schedule. He will not approach the house but will go directly through to the backyard.



-Pet Policy-

We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation how many dogs you are bringing. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $500. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.



-Security Camera-

For your security, there is an exterior camera next to the front door, which monitors vehicles and occupancy. There are no cameras inside the home or facing any private areas.



-Cell Service-

Cell phone coverage in the area may be limited or unavailable depending on your carrier. Wi-Fi is available at the property.



-Damage Waiver Policy-

Each reservation requires either a refundable security deposit or a non-refundable damage waiver.
