Moljoks Heritage House

The staff was extremely courteous and warm. The hotel is boutique Ladakhi luxury. The food was amazing. One of the most special stays of our Ladakh trip If Saspol isn’t already on your Ladakh itinerary, I would genuinely add it just to spend a night at Moljoks Heritage Home. Moljoks is a beautifully maintained heritage property surrounded by orchards of apricots, peaches and apples, with the sound of flowing water all around you. The setting is spectacularly peaceful, and the dining room in particular is absolutely beautiful. It’s the kind of place where you immediately slow down — I can imagine it being an incredible writer’s retreat or simply somewhere to disappear for a couple of days and collect your thoughts. We were extremely lucky to be the only guests on the night we stayed, and were also very kindly upgraded. The rooms were spotless, comfortable and full of character, but what really made Moljoks exceptional was the hospitality. The food was OUTSTANDING. Properly comforting, home-style food, but unbelievably delicious. After days on the road in Ladakh, we ate as though we hadn’t seen food in a week! Dinner was one of the best meals of our entire trip and breakfast the next morning was equally lovely. The team is small but remarkably efficient and attentive. And then there is Mr. Ramesh Mehta, the manager of Moljoks, who deserves a special mention. Ramesh seems to play every role imaginable — hosting guests, helping with the food, planning experiences and making sure everyone is happy. By the end of the evening, it genuinely felt less like staying at a hotel and more like being looked after in somebody’s home. He had even planned to personally take us on a walking tour through Saspol the following morning and offered to take us to a friend’s restaurant for lunch.
