Iveshead is a unique, magical railway carriage holiday home right on the Selsey seafront. Sleeping seven in five train compartment bedrooms, it is a wonderful place to step back in time while enjoying all the comforts of modern living. Iveshead is a much-loved family holiday home with a rich history full of happy memories. It has been a cherished getaway for its owners for the last sixty years, and it's easy to see why.
Despite thoughtful modernisation, Iveshead retains the original railway carriage charm that makes it so truly special. The central sitting room is the heart of the home, with comfortable seating for seven, a large dining table, smart TV, and cosy electric fire — perfect for relaxing together after a day by the sea.
The cottage offers five bedrooms, each showcasing the unique railway carriage features that give this home its character, and sleeps up to seven guests.

• Bedroom 2: Double bed
• Bedroom 3: Single bed (2'6")
• Bedroom 4: Single bed (2'6")
• Bedroom 5: Single bed (2'6”)
Each bedroom retains its original railway carriage features including curved ceilings, train windows and carriage doors. The three single rooms are each an individual train carriage compartment. Both the double bedrooms are sea facing at the front of the property. The owners have decorated the rooms with some charming little railway carriage artefacts and local, vintage period train tickets, all which add to the charm of this gorgeous home. Both double rooms, are cleverly equipped with wardrobes and drawers plus each have a dressing table area and mirror with chair. There are USB charging sockets in each bedroom and the kitchen. The owners have thought of everything in this uniquely adapted traditional home. The three single bedrooms are small but comfortable, with a 2'6” bed, a small drawer unit and mirror in each. Although compact this home is ideal for a group of seven looking to enjoy the charms of a traditional seaside holiday.
The family bathroom is equipped with a bath and walk-in shower, while the fully fitted kitchen includes a small breakfast table for casual meals. A handy utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer and fridge freezer ensures convenience for longer stays.
A south-facing sun lounge provides a comfortable and peaceful spot to sit, unwind, and watch the world go by — with views of the greensward and the seawall, with the sea just beyond. Outside, you'll find private parking for up to three cars to the side of the house and a secure, sheltered garden, a sun trap in the afternoon, and perfect for children to play safely or for friends and family to gather in comfort.

I must say that this was an amazing and very pleasant visit. Located across the way of the beach, we were able to quickly access the water, where there is miles of walking paths full of unbelievable views and friendly people. This home is an Instagram dream! Close walk to local resteraunts and other amenities. The house is spacious, but comfy. The rooms are made of rustic rail cars that have been wonderfully remodeled to match the beachfront theme. Loved the details and decorations. There is also a serene back yard area with plenty of seating and a table for gathering outside. The yard is gorgeous! We had a lovely time. Plenty to do for all ages. Great spot for any size family or couples getaway. Plan to visit again.

Iveshead is a gorgeous beachside cottage in Selsey. We loved our stay here - it’s quirky, cosy and brilliantly positioned right by the beach in Selsey, with everything you need for a laid-back coastal break.
The enclosed garden is the perfect spot to sit in the afternoon sunshine with a glass of wine, followed by a walk over the road to the beach to watch the waves roll in - simple and slow, but it's exactly what we came for. The cottage is also an easy stroll into Selsey town centre for pubs, cafés and a relaxed evening out.
On another day, we headed out for a longer walk along the coast - a 16km circular walk with plenty of seaside views then looped via Church Norton and the Pagham Harbour RSPB Nature Reserve.
Inside, it’s warm and comfortable, with a lovely sense of character throughout. The converted railway carriages give it real personality.
A relaxed, characterful seaside stay that we genuinely really enjoyed.
