Vivaz Cataratas Resort

It's a beautiful hotel. Everything appears new and in good condition, our room was spacious and very well equipped and the facilities are fantastic. The grounds are huge and include two pools (one indoor), plenty of sun loungers, beach volleyball court, small football pitch, table tennis, a pool table, a gym, access to the water park, and more, as well as walking trails through the forest. The breakfast is excellent, with a great choice to suit most tastes. The location is excellent - very close to the airport and Iguaçu National Park. It's a taxi ride into Foz dos Iguaçu but we didn't bother. It's a fantastic place for families with children, with lots to keep them amused, and I would thoroughly recommend it on that basis. The staff are almost all hard-working, pleasant and conscientious, especially in the buffet dining room. Overall, it's a wonderful resort and well worth the money.

The evening buffet is mediocre. The choice is pretty good but it's not very tasty and not particularly hot by the time it's eaten (we were in just after it opened every night). We didn't try the a la carte menu. We're a late middle-aged couple who like some peace and quiet. The music is on loud at the poolside all day until about 10pm, and we could hear the beat even in our room. There was a large group of children on what appeared to be a school trip when we there, who were very noisy - a completely different atmosphere to the family vibe. This should not count against the hotel - the vast majority of guests will have enjoyed the entertainment. Perhaps we could have chosen a hotel that catered to our needs. The exception to the excellent staff was the poolside bar, where the young male servers seemed more concerned about having a chat than doing their job. We watched as the kitchen staff placed meal after meal on the counter to be served, ringing the bell each time to alert the servers. And there they stayed for over 5 minutes, getting cold. The servers were around the corner in a group chatting and laughing. The place was less than a quarter full. By the time we got our meal it was lukewarm (although tasted delicious) with no apology from the offhand waiter about the delay. We were also charged for a drink we didn't get. The staff in the evening there were no better, the waiters ignoring us for more than 5 minutes (it wasn't busy) until we went to the bar to order, then taking a further 10 minutes to bring the drinks. If they'd been quicker we'd have had 2 or 3 drinks each instead of just one. That bar really needs a good manager to be present.

Location close to airport and not far from the Iguazu Falls.

No ramp (or lift) to ground floor- had to bring heavy bags from downstairs to upstairs. Interesting negative fact- you can have food during hotel dinner (included in price), but no water or juice included as part of your dinner (have to buy separately).

We booked the suite and it’s a little disappointing that you have to pay for everything, even a coffee in your room that is standard almost everywhere, also it’s a little overwhelming the push to spend more, as soon as you arrive you are pushed to buy an overpriced dinner buffet, in the room everything is separate payed. Also the pool is not heated in winter
