Villa Eterea is perched within the atmospheric Fornillo quarter of Positano, a place where the mountain literally meets the sea in a vertical labyrinth. It’s a spot for those who appreciate a central position without being swallowed by the tourist chaos of the water’s edge. Reaching the waves requires a ten-minute descent down more than 100 stone steps to Fornillo beach, a journey that serves as a reminder of the raw, physical nature of this coast. From that shore, a historical coastal path winds its way toward Spiaggia Grande, the beating heart of the town. For those arriving from the outside world via Naples or Sorrento, the arrival involves navigating steep descents and narrow passages from the upper bus stops, dropping down into a world where the view is the ultimate currency.

This structure is a massive soul carved directly into the cliffs, boasting foundations that date back to the 1700s with more recent expansions that give it a unique, multi-level character. Unlike the cramped units typical of downtown, this is a sprawling three-story fortress plus a private garage for those who dare to drive. The layout is a sophisticated maze: the first level welcomes you with two bedrooms, one with twin beds and another with a double and single bed combo, alongside a studio and two bathrooms (1 ensute barthroom). Moving upward, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen and a living room centered around a chimney, both opening onto the lower terrace. The top floor houses the master bedroom with its own private balcony and a fourth smaller bedroom. We’ve finally upgraded the defense against the heat by adding AC to three of the bedrooms, though the house retains its honest, chilly edge during the colder months if the fireplace isn’t roaring. The true power of the villa lies in its massive two-level terraces and lemon garden, offering a cold, beautiful perspective of the Mediterranean horizon.

The bus stop is just 20 meters away, and you’ll find shops, bars, and restaurants within 150 to 160-meter radius. Getting to the Positano city center requires a 450-meter walk, while the port and the Spiaggia Grande beach are approximately 500 to 550 meters from your door.For longer distances, Amalfi is 16.6 kilometers away. Sorrento, where you’ll find the nearest train station, is 18.4 kilometers from the address. If you’re heading toward Naples, the total distance is 60 kilometers.

What an amazing property with incredible views. This multi story property is located on the second level of Positano. The photos accurately depict the property. The patios are amazing. The main patio has outdoor seating for close to 20 people. Great table for outdoor eating and playing games. Additional comfy seating for just lounging. The 3 main bedrooms all had AC which was very nice. Also having a washing machine was nice. Maria our host was truly amazing. She met us at the property, offered many restaurant suggestions which we used and were amazing, and was always quick to respond if we had any questions. I would definitely recommend this property.

Our stay at this villa was a wonderful and authentic Positano experience. One of the best parts was being away from the noise and crowds of the main tourist area while still being conveniently located near everything we needed. The neighborhood felt much more local and authentic, with several excellent nearby restaurants that were less touristy and more enjoyable.The villa is spread across multiple levels, which gave everyone plenty of privacy and space to relax. The views from all three balconies were absolutely stunning, especially the sunsets overlooking the bay from the upper balcony — truly unforgettable.The kitchen was sufficiently equipped for our stay, and we appreciated having a coffee shop and convenience store very close by. There is also a larger grocery store about a five-minute walk up the steps. Having the intercity bus stop at the base of the stairs to the villa was extremely convenient for getting around.The three main bedrooms all have air conditioning, which was very appreciated. Like much of Positano, there are many stairs throughout the town and within the property itself, and some can be tricky to navigate at times. However, that is simply part of the Positano charm.Overall, this villa provided incredible views, privacy, convenience, and a true feel for authentic Positano living.
