Newton Park Country House Hotel

Staff were exceptionally helpful throughout. Room was generous in size and very quiet despite the hotel hosting a large party. Bed was comfortable. Parking was fine, again despite the hosting of a party.

Very slow service in restaurant and the difference beween on-line prices and the printed menu on the table. Quality of food was just about OK.

Nice peaceful hotel, very comfortable mattress and the breakfast was excellent. Staff helpful too.

Good base for visits to National Memorial Arboretum

On arrival we were shown to a room that had not been prepared for guests, bed rumpled and dirty towels in the bath. We were immediate offered tea while an alternative room was identified; good move! After about 10 minutes we were offered an upgraded room which was perfect. At dinner that evening a waiter was clearly under instruction, which was not a problem but I asked the meal to be charged to the room number. On checking out in the morning, reception had no information regarding dinner the previous evening. They spent about five to ten minutes to find the cost to be charged to the room. While all staff were helpful, there were few of them and internal processes, which would have addressed both issues, were either not present or were ignored. Internal systems need to be improved.

Quality furnishings and upholstery in bedroom. Comfortable king-size bed. Hot food cooked to order at breakfast.

Very small en suite, but did have a bath. Staff members need further training for jobs being asked to do. For example, was man in stained green top and faded blue jeans just filling in for breakfast service?
