The Space:
Inspired by the building’s chocolate past, The Cacao Suite is a studio apartment with a double bed, modern bathroom and a kitchen with all the utensils you would need, all within a short walk into the vibrant centre of York.
With all the luxuries you would expect from a hotel, with fresh white bedding and big fluffy towels, but with the flexibility of a self-catering apartment.
Original brickwork and panelled windows frame the views out onto the river Foss.
The apartment is situated on the ground floor of a previously used flour mill, which was later repurchased as a Nestle warehouse and has since been converted into charmingly refurbished apartments.
Included within your stay are mini toiletries, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a Smart TV.
Guest Access:
Free parking available - we have an allocated parking space in the multi-storey carpark next to the property.
A fob and permit is provided once you check into the property.
The Neighborhood:
Based in the very centre of York, within the city walls. You are a 2-minute walk from the famous 'Shambles' and many more attractions..
York is famous for its independent shops, cafes and restaurants and we are lucky enough to be situated just around the corner from the most up and coming road - 'Fossgate' where you will find the above in abundance.
Other Things to Note:
IMPORTANT: Our properties are protected by SafeGuest. After you book, SafeGuest will contact you to verify your identity (required by UK law) and take a £250 security deposit as a hold on your card, released within 7 days of check-out (or a non-refundable damage waiver if you prefer). Please complete this before check-in.
Interaction with Guests:
It provides convenient access to York’s City Centre which is only a few minutes' walk away whilst providing a quiet and relaxing ambience.
Fossgate is on the doorstep and offers numerous bars, cafes, restaurants and shops.
The Famous ‘Shambles’ is just a short stroll away. Again within a few minutes' walk you have The Q Park (Shambles) car park and a couple of large supermarkets.
There is always something going on in York, we will provide you with a map and leaflets for your information and are more than happy to help with recommendations!

Loved this place!Very unique building and I loved that the room was tastefully Rowntree chocolate themed to match it's history.The apartment was clean and fresh with everything you could possibly need. We especially enjoyed the huge window looking out onto the warf with swans floating by.I stayed with my 2 year old and it felt quiet, safe and peaceful. It was only about 4 mins walk into the centre of York so ideal for exploring the city. There was also a huge Morrisons and other shops literally 2 mins walk away.As have mentioned, the check in process is quite confusing! I accept this is due to the nature of the building (there are residential apartments too) to keep everybody safe.I was quite stressed upon arrival as my toddler was asleep in the car and I couldn't figure out how to find the key fob to park my car. The host messaged back immediately and actually sent a nice gentleman round to help show me what to do.Basically you can park for free for 25 mins outside. You need a code to enter the building then another code for the internal door. Then you have your own unique code for the door to the apartment.Inside the apartment is the multistorey parking key fob and parking pass. You take this back out to your car. You tap the key fob on the black box to enter the multistorey and park in the assigned space. You need to tap the key fob on another black box to get out.I hope this helps the next guest!
