Bamburgh, with miles of sandy beach and a 1,400-year-old sea-facing castle, one of the largest inhabited castles in the country, is 3.5 miles away and is accessible on foot along the beach. Outdoor lovers can set out on one of the area's many walking trails or head to Beadnell, 2 miles away, for watersports including surfing, kayaking and sailing.
