The little fishing town of Porthleven has much to offer, its high-walled harbour dotted with colourful fishing boats and lined with excellent shops and restaurants. You’re in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty here, and there are plenty of scenic walks, coastal and inland, around, while dramatic St Michael’s Mount, a castle on an island, is just 10 miles away. For a family-friendly day on the beach, head to Praa Sands, 5.5 miles, and don’t miss a trip to popular St Ives, 17 miles, where you’ll find five gorgeous beaches and an array of shops and eateries.
